Here at GrowCheap, I write articles about WordPress, Web Hosting and how to create websites. I wrote earlier about BlueHost and HostGator in details. Today, I’m comparing BlueHost Vs HostGator. Furthermore, I’m answering the question; does BlueHost and HostGator same company?
Both hosting companies BlueHost & HostGator are offering a wide range of web hosting services. Today, We’re comparing the shared hosting services in details. By the end, You should be able to decide which is the best hosting for your website.
BlueHost and HostGator Same Company?
Yes, Both companies; BlueHost and HostGator, are a part of the same group company EIG (Endurance International Group). EIG is an interational company that owns 65+ web hosting companies around the globe.
All the web hosting companies under EIG umbrella seem to be running as if being an individual company. The umbrella includes many companies including; HostGator, BlueHost, JustHost, FatCow, ASmallOrange, ..etc. So yes, Bluehost and HostGator same company.
To be more specific; EIG has acquired BlueHost in 2011 and acquired HostGator on 2012. While these acquisitions went as smooth as possible, Both companies have been affected. Due to that, HostGator has lost many customer’s trust at that point.
The above-mentioned was just a background about the parent company EIG and the acquisitions. Now, Let’s move forward and compare both hosting providers in terms of quality, support and uptime.
Hostgator Vs Bluehost:
Since then, Both companies are doing pretty well in terms of expansion and growth. Both companies are – literally – offering almost the same packages. In my opinion, I believe that BlueHost just went an extra mile further towards being WordPress Green.
BlueHost have invested heavily in revamping their hosting control panel. It has became more WordPress oriented. It will basically allow you to manage your WordPress sites from a one dashboard; which is really awesome.
I will speak further about the new tools inside BlueHost control panel below. But as of now, Let’s speak further about the comparison between HostGator Vs BlueHost.
Hosting Plans & Pricing:
Basically, Both companies are offering almost the same offerings with the exact same features. You can hardly notice any differences between here and there. Furthermore, Let’s compare their plans head to head:
- HostGator – Baby Plan (equals) BlueHost – Basic Plan.
- HostGator – Hatchling Plan (equals) BlueHost – Plus Plan.
- HostGator – Business Plan (equals) BlueHost – Prime Plan.
The pricing as well is nearly the same. While the Baby plan on HostGator costs $3.96/month, The BlueHost’s Basic plan costs around $3.49/mo. Both companies offer a wide range of web hosting services from the shared hosting up to the full dedicated servers.

Technical Support:
Both companies offer a wide range of contacting methods. You may reach out to the support staff using the live chat or by phone; which is my every time preferred method.
Based on my own personal experience both companies perform exceptionally well. Both companies will deliver the right support answers at that time of need. However; I will still prefer to go with BlueHost for a faster response time. Statistically, You will get your request answered within 10 up to 15 minutes; which is good.

Control Panel (Dashboard):
Both companies use cPanel for the hosting account dashboard. cPanel is an online Linux-based web hosting control panel that provides a graphical interface and automation tools designed to simplify the process of hosting a website.
While HostGator offers the standard cPanel control panel, BlueHost is having a real edge here. BlueHost’s control panel has been widely revamped to let you manage your WordPress sites easily via one dashboard.
BlueHost added many WordPress tools to their control panel (without extra charges) like;
- Taking backups.
- Installing Free SSL Certificate.
- Updating themes & Plugins.
- And many great tools that will make your life easier.
Uptime & Website Speed:
Since 2008, I’ve been hosting multiple websites with BlueHost and HostGator. I’ve also tried many other web hosting companies which made me experienced enough to tell if that host is a good value for money.
With BlueHost Vs HostGator, I’ve experienced downtimes and slowness due to server upgrades, internal issues or technical changes. While I’ve been really bothered at those times, Overall both companies have maintained their word to maintain 99.9% uptime guarantee.
In here, I would say both BlueHost Vs HostGator are perfectly fine for your needs. I’ve maintained multiple sites on their platforms with a huge daily traffic and heavy WordPress plugins. Things worked like a charm.
